York's Dragon Boat Races - YO1 Rules The Waves Makes THIRD PLACE!
YO1 Radio is helping to raise valuable cash for our nominated charity - The Snappy Trust - at this year's Dragon Boat Races!
Please visit our fundraising page here .....
Well, well, well .... who would have thought it, eh?
Our YO1 Rules The Waves team - featuring some of our presenters, partners and one special guest from the USA - managed to reach the dizzy heights of THIRD PLACE in this year's race held on Sunday 9th July!
Massive congratulations to the team - and to our Captain for the day, our very own Gemma Taylor.
It was a hard fought battle - but we managed that VERY respectable third place with a time of just a little over 1m 09s. And that was just a fraction of a second behind the teams in first and second.
A massive well done, though, not only to the YO1 Radio team but to ALL of the 36 teams taking part. It was a fabulous day and literally dozens of local charities will benefit.
THERE IS STILL TIME TO THROW A FEW QUID IN OUR DIRECTION - AS OUR DONATION PAGE REMAINS OPEN UNTIL 31st AUGUST. The links are at the top and bottom of this page.
This year, YO1 Radio is very proud to have been supporting The Snappy Trust - a small charity, based in York, and dedicated to maximising the personal development of children and young people with wide ranging disabilities.
The Rotary Club charities are Big Futures Foundation and KYRA Women’s Charity. Both of these charities are based in York.
Two-thirds of the funds we raise will go to The Snappy Trust, with the remainder to the Rotary charities.
Over the last 20 years, the Rotary Club of York Dragon Boat Races have raised over £1.4 million. A fantastic achievement.
We've set ourselves a target for this year at a more modest £1,500 - and we'd love to have your help in reaching that target!
If you'd like to support the cause, we'd love you to visit our 'Enthuse' fundraising page, by following the link below. Every donation, however small, will go to some fantastic local causes.
Thanks for your support. Here's the link .....
And thanks to all of those who came to see us on the day, too!!
