York City will welcome Championship side Sheffield United to the LNER Community Stadium this summer, as part of the club’s pre-season preparations.
The fixture is set for Tuesday 15th July, with a 7pm kick-off under the lights in what promises to be an exciting test for the Minstermen.
It marks the second consecutive summer York will face Chris Wilder’s side, following a competitive 2-1 defeat last year. City took the lead through Tyrese Sinclair before the Blades came from behind to edge the result.
Sheffield United narrowly missed out on a return to the Premier League for the 2024/25 season. After running neck-and-neck with Leeds United and Burnley in the Championship title race, they ultimately secured a third-place finish and entered the play-offs.
The Blades powered past Bristol City in the semi-finals but suffered heartbreak at Wembley. Despite taking the lead, an injury-time goal from Sunderland snatched promotion away in dramatic fashion.
Ticket information for the Sheffield United match will be confirmed in due course.
