
York City FC have confirmed the departure of striker Dipo Akinyemi, who has completed a permanent move to Derry City, currently second in the Irish Premier Division.
Akinyemi, 28, joined the Minstermen in summer 2023 and played a crucial role in securing the club’s league survival during the 2023/24 campaign. He netted 15 goals in 40 league appearances, earning the club’s Golden Boot.
In total, Dipo made over 70 appearances in all competitions for York, scoring 19 goals and notching up 16 assists across league and FA Cup fixtures.
His final goal came in dramatic fashion – a stoppage-time strike against Solihull Moors during York’s last home league game of the 2024/25 season.
The move is subject to FA, league, and international clearance.
York City have thanked Dipo for his service and wished him all the best in the next chapter of his career.
