A pensioner has hit out at Yorkshire Water after it dumped a pile of rubble and barriers on his York property - and left the mess there for months.
John Masiak, 75, of Restharrow Road in Acomb, said he has been living with a pile of rubbish for more than six months after the water company came to work on the street’s water main – located on his property - and left behind mess.
Yorkshire Water apologised for the delay in sorting out the mess and said it would deal with it as a "matter of urgency".
John said: “When I moved into the property, I was expecting the land to the front of my property to be developed but when I asked, they said that it was mine and the council said that I could do with it as I pleased.
“I block paved it but I knew the flush main was on my property so it may need to be dug up - that was alright as long as they repaved it afterwards.”
John was informed that Yorkshire Water would be visiting his property to reroute the water mains on November 14, 2024 – something that he was told would take four days to complete. But he says crews left without cleaning up.
