York residents are being encouraged to start planning their weekend as the York Residents’ Festival makes its return at the end of January.
Organised by Make It York, the popular event will take place over the weekend of Saturday 31 January and Sunday 1 February, offering local people the chance to enjoy free entry to attractions, alongside exclusive food and drink offersand a range of special experiences across the city.
The festival is designed to thank York residents for their continued support of the city’s tourism and hospitality sector, while also encouraging people to explore attractions and venues they may not have visited before.
For the second year running, a number of attractions and venues will be offering pre-bookable tickets online. Spaces for some experiences are limited, meaning residents are advised to book early to avoid disappointment. However, organisers say the majority of attractions taking part will still be offering free walk-in entry over the weekend for those who are unable to secure tickets in advance.
Additional offers and extra tickets are expected to be released in the weeks leading up to the event, with residents encouraged to regularly check the official festival website for the latest updates.
To take advantage of the festival offers, residents must be able to prove they live in York by presenting either a valid York Card, student card or an identity card showing a York address.
Make It York hopes the event will not only provide residents with a fun and affordable weekend out, but also help support local businesses during a quieter period of the year.
A spokesperson for the organisation said the festival is a chance for residents to “rediscover their city” while boosting footfall for attractions, restaurants and independent businesses.
Full details of participating venues, available tickets and offers can be found online at visityork.org/resfest.
Residents are now being encouraged to plan ahead and make the most of the weekend by booking early where required and keeping an eye out for new deals as they are announced.
