York RLFC has confirmed York College as a new official partner for the 2026 season, marking the start of an exciting collaboration built on shared values of education, opportunity and community.
The partnership will see York College work closely with York RLFC across the Betfred Super League, creating pathways for students to gain real-world experience within a professional sporting environment. Through hands-on opportunities and behind-the-scenes exposure, students will be able to develop practical skills and insight that support future careers in sport and related industries.
In return, York RLFC will benefit from access to emerging talent, fresh perspectives and the next generation of skilled professionals across a range of disciplines. Both organisations say the partnership is focused on long-term growth, mutual support and making a positive impact beyond the pitch.
As part of the agreement, York College’s logo will feature on the back of York RLFC’s playing shirts, reinforcing the visible connection between education and elite sport during the club’s historic Super League journey.
York RLFC Chairman Clint Goodchild welcomed the partnership, describing it as more than traditional sponsorship. He said the support represents a genuine investment in the club’s players, people and the wider York community, and thanked York College for being part of the club’s journey.
York College Principal and Chief Executive Ken Merry said the partnership is one the college greatly values. He added that the college is proud to show its support for both York Knights and York Valkyrie by appearing on the shirts, particularly during the Knights’ first-ever Super League season. He also confirmed the college will support the development of future rugby league talent through the York Knights and York Valkyrie x York College Development Centre.
Both organisations say they are looking forward to building a strong and lasting relationship that supports students, athletes and the wider York community in the years ahead.
