Great British Energy has announced the details of its first investment into clean energy, and a York ambulance station is among the beneficiaries.
The £200 million investment was announced on Friday, March 21, which includes supporting nearly 200 NHS sites.
One of these sites - it has been revealed - is Skelton's ambulance station.
"This initiative marks a significant step forward in our mission for clean power and energy independence, and a clear commitment to investing in our public services," said York Outer MP, Luke Charters. "I am particularly pleased that NHS sites, like the ambulance service at Skelton will benefit from this funding for solar panels.
"[The] announcement will mean that hundreds of schools will save thousands on their energy bills each year, meaning more money can be spent on the essentials that our frontline services need."
Mr Charters added that schools receiving the grant could save up to £25,000 per year, whilst the average NHS site could save up to £45,000 per year on their annual energy bills.
He said: "Great British Energy, the first publicly owned energy generation company in 75 years, is at the heart of the Labour Government’s clean power mission. The company is owned by the British people, for the British people, and will own and invest in clean power projects in regions across the UK.
