With full responsibility for the leadership and development of YO1 Radio and Media, Nick will play a key role in driving the business forward into a full Multimedia brand whilst creating new strategic partnerships with local businesses across York and North Yorkshire.
Nick will also be instrumental in further building on the station’s excellent reputation with new marketing and community initiatives throughout the year.
With over 25 years' experience of management in both radio and media Nick brings with him a strong skill set in creating commercial content, relationship building and team leadership.
Current YO1 MD, Wayne Chadwick becomes Executive Chairman focussing on brand and vision whilst leading the Board of Directors.
Wayne is delighted at Nick’s appointment. He said: “Since Nick took over our Breakfast Show in September, we’ve had a great and growing response from listeners and clients. Nick’s strong knowledge and experience is vital as we continue our ambitious plans to grow and develop great solutions for our clients. As our business continues to grow and as we expand the range of media services we offer to local clients, I’m glad we have a great leader to drive our ambition”.
Dave Parker will step down as Operations Director but will continue to help develop community links and look after the station’s growing Work Placement programme. He said: “We’re really proud of how widely recognised the Y01 brand is across York and North Yorkshire and we’re looking forward to growing our audience and community presence even further next year with Nick at the helm”.
Nick Hancock added “It is a great privilege to be asked to lead the team in such an ambitious business based in one of the world’s best cities. We’re going to continue to super serve our listeners and deliver great results for our clients. 2026 is going to be a fun year!"
