As The Press reported yesterday, the body of a man was found in a playpark in Naburn and a woman is in hospital with head injuries.
North Yorkshire Police say it followed a call from a concerned member of the public at 5.50pm on Monday (August 11) with reports of an assault at a property in the village.
Wheldrake Lib Dem ward councillor Christian Vassie said: “This is very sad news.
"Villagers are understandably concerned.
"We should all be reassured that the emergency services responded so quickly, and that the police have reassured the village that the two parties involved knew each other and that there is no further risk to the community.
