Today, York City Football Club Foundation (YCFCF) and Age UK York (AUKY) come together to highlight the community support and advice available to older people across York from local charities.
With a wide range of activities, advice and support available, including Sporting Memories and Day Clubs for a chat and a cuppa, advice on benefits and welfare checks, and even taking your dog for a walk if you are struggling to get out and about, YCFCF and AUKY want to raise awareness of the services available and how to find out more about them, for yourself or loved ones.
The higher cost of living and ongoing cold weather have added additional challenges, with Age UK York warning that darker nights and cold weather can make it harder for people to get out and about, leaving them feeling lonely or out of sorts.
