Dr Ralph Kaner, a former Rowntree Mackintosh board member, led the KitKat brand when the iconic 'Have a break, have a KitKat' slogan was launched.
His family has paid tribute to a much-loved father, grandfather and volunteer in York.
Dr Kaner, who joined Rowntree's in 1950 and remained there for his entire working life, passed away at his home in York on November 29 last year, aged 96.
He was buried at Birks Fold cemetery in Bradford on December 3.
Ralph was born at Woolwich in London on June 16, 1928 to Israel (Izzy) and Hannah Kaner.
The family moved to Hipperholme near Halifax where Ralph was educated at St Chad’s School, Brighouse, then Hipperholme Grammar School.
He went up to Pembroke College, Cambridge, between 1945 and 1948 to read History and returned with a first class degree.
It was after performing National Service in the Royal Air Force that Ralph started at Rowntree and Co in 1950 and spent his entire career with the company.
