YORK'S Young Sportsperson of the Year has been crowned.
Jonah Wild was named the winner at the YO1 Radio Sports Awards 2025, hosted at York Barbican on June 19. After becoming an international athlete at just 14-years-old, Jonah is now a member of the England squad.
This year, he took home a bronze medal for himself in the vault event at the national championships.
After winning the award - which was sponsored by York RLFC - Jonah spoke to The Press.
“It's great, I never expected to come into this and win the award," he said. "It's surreal."
"I've been doing this my whole life, I've been on a trampoline before I could walk according to my mum."
Jonah went on to thank his mum, dad, family, and "everyone" who has supported his young journey.
The first winner to be announced on the night, he added: "It's been a fun night so far, I'm excited to watch more."
