Published today (Monday, March 31), David Skaith shared the plan at an event in Northallerton.
Mayor Skaith took on the duties of the Police, Fire and crime Commissioner after his election after taking office at the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority in May 2024.
His plan, which was formed in consultation with the public, includes four main points. These are called: focus on prevention and early intervention, protect the public, work with partners, build stronger communities
"Ensuring York and North Yorkshire is a safe place for everyone who lives, works and visits here is my highest priority," David Skaith said. "That’s why I’m pleased to introduce my first Police and Crime Plan, setting clear expectations for North Yorkshire Police over the next four years.
"I have already taken action to tackle the causes and impact of crime by committing to at least doubling prevention and early intervention commissioned services. This will support the long-term priority the deputy mayor and I share with the government, to halve violence against women and girls within a decade."
