A MEMBER of staff at a popular York buffet restaurant has been fired after the venue scored just one star- meaning ‘major improvement necessary’ - for food hygiene.
anda Mami at 19, Bridge Street opened in 2018 and offers up to 150 world dishes, plus live cooking stations.
Tripadvisor awards the restaurant 4.2 stars out of five based on 1056 food reviews, ranking it 109 out of 735 restaurants in York. Google awards it 4.1 stars out of five based on 3,306 reviews.
However, when it comes to food hygiene, following a visit from City Council inspectors on April 22, Panda Mami scores an overall one star out of five, meaning ‘Major Improvement Necessary.’
The Food Standards Agency website reports that for hygienic food handling, it was a matter of ‘improvement necessary’, with the same given for cleanliness of the facilities and the building.
However, for management of food safety, inspectors determined ‘major improvement necessary.’
