ONE of the men at the top of a chain with schools in York has resigned from his post.
The board of directors at Middlesbrough academy chain Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust (NPCAT) has announced the resignation of Hugh Hegarty as CEO and accounting officer.
A spokesperson for the Diocese of Middlesbrough said the outcome of an independent bishop-led investigation into Mr Hegarty's behaviour while he was CEO will not be made public.
They said: “We thank Mr Hegarty for his service and wish him well for the future. Current NPCAT assistant CEO Nicky Jamalizadeh has temporarily assumed the role of accounting officer and the transition to an interim CEO arrangement has already begun.
"The board of directors has engaged a leading recruitment agency to coordinate the search and selection process for a highly qualified interim chief executive officer.
The appointment is expected to be finalised by the end of the June."
The trust runs five schools in York - All Saints secondary and Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, St Wilfrid's, St Aelred's and St George's primaries.
