A CAT who went viral for mourning after the death of his previous owner has settled into life at a new home.
As reported by The Press last year, Sam, a black cat, was living at York RSPCA after his previous owner died.
At the time, the centre said that he is a "little shell shocked and is totally heartbroken at losing both his home and his owner" but that he has a heart of gold and just wants a new home.
Since then, he has since found a new home with Alice and Tom, a couple in their early 30s who live in York, and a new name – Samwise – inspired by the Lord of the Rings series.
Alice said: “I always knew that the RSPCA were a thing and I wanted to get us a cat. We gave our preferences and Sam’s temperament was suited to our living situation, so they set up a meeting to see if he likes me.
“Obviously, he was a bit nervous, but he let me give him a few strokes and then the next day they called, and I picked him up.”
