Stephen Carr, 57, is now serving a 20-year extended prison sentence for the attempted murder of Lorna Carr in Southfields, Strensall.
Lorna has forgiven her husband for the attack that left her in hospital with six stab wounds, other injuries and led to her losing both her home and her job.
She explained why in a letter to the judge who sentenced her husband and was in court to see Stephen Carr being jailed.
