Bishopthorpe Library gets new windows after fundraising.
The Friends of Bishopthorpe Library began fundraising in September 2023 to replace the library’s windows.
They raised £11,665.20 through donations, events, and support from residents, businesses, and community groups.
An additional £5,780 was donated by the local magazine LINK to fund new fascia boards.
Sonia Murray-Kydd, library manager at Bishopthorpe Library, said: "What started as a very scary endeavour has been one of the most rewarding experiences."
"I can't praise the community spirit in Bishopthorpe too much – we have had support from our regulars, from people who never use the library (but often wave when they walk past), from community groups and businesses, and from visitors and former residents."
