Funding to regenerate York Station as part of Government plans to improve northern railways will be absolutely vital to unlocking economic growth, according to the city’s mayor.
Mayor of York and North Yorkshire David Skaith said the money would bring faster trains while ensuring the station is fit for purpose and connects to the York Central development.
Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander, who signed a deal for the funding during a visit to York on Thursday, January 22, said it would transform connectivity across the region.
