JUGGLERS, fire eaters and stilt-walkers will form part of a festival set to bring a historic York street to life next weekend.

The Flowers and Flames Festival returns on Sunday June 15- Father’s Day- organised by the Goodramgate Traders Association, promises a day packed with thrilling performances, family-friendly activities, and captivating competitions.

The free festivities start with an opening ceremony at Monk Bar at 11.30am  by the Lord Mayor of York, Cllr Martin Rowley BEM.

The Lord Mayor will lead a procession through the street, accompanied by a steampunk morris side and then judge a window dressing competition, where local businesses will showcase their creativity with floral and fire-themed displays.

Adding unusual colour will be the Ravens Morris Dancers of Market Weighton, who will be giving steampunk-themed performances both on the street and on College Green.

The festival includes other attractions such as juggling from 12.25pm in the churchyard of Holy Trinity Church.

At 2pm the churchyard will also host a performance of Fire-eating.

A stilt-walker will also interact with passersby throughout the day.

Events aimed at children include fire-themed face painting from noon until 4pm and a children’s trail and treasure hunt.

Zoe Sinclair, Chair of the Goodramgate Traders Association, said: “"We are thrilled to bring the Flowers & Flames Festival to Goodramgate for the third year running, especially on a day that celebrates fathers. This event offers a unique blend of entertainment and community spirit, making it a perfect outing for families and visitors.”
