A WELL-KNOWN football foundation in York is calling on people to help ensure that every child has what they need to take part in sport and stay active.
York City Football Club Foundation say its Changing Room initiative for kit collections, donations and swaps means that not having the right kit need no longer be a barrier that prevents young people from experiencing all the benefits of getting involved in activities.
The foundation, which exists to use the power of football to inspire, support, and engage the local community, launched the project in 2023 in response to the growing cost of living crisis.
Led by foundation inclusion officer, Steph Aksel, the winners of the 'selfie contest' this year, which challenged youngsters to take a creative selfie with their changing room bin, were Huntington Primary School.
Steph said: “The best part of this project is seeing the impact first-hand at our Changing Room events.
