Those are the words of a mother whose teenage daughter lost her life 25 years ago today (January 15).
And the heartbroken mum says she will never stop trying to find out what happened to her daughter.
Lizzie Gilmour, of St Stephen’s Road, Acomb, was found on a dim and isolated part of York’s outer ring road, the A1237, near the Askham Lane junction, after being hit by a car on January 15, 2000.
Her mother Rose believes there are people in York who can still explain why and how she was in the area at the time but have never come forward.
She says police believe Lizzie was driven to the ring road.
Rose said she lives “24 hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week” with the hope people find it in their conscience to come forward now and finally end the mystery of what happened to Lizzie.
Rose, 70, said: "It doesn’t change, no matter how many years go by.
“As each year passes finding justice for Lizzie is becoming more of a challenge, it’s soul-destroying.
Rose has moved in with her daughter Victoria, a few doors down on the same road from the home she always used to call ‘Lizzie's house’.
