A FORMER York estate agent has announced an ambitious Europe and US music tour with band, reports Nadia Jefferson-Brown.
Reuben Barrett who is also a former York teacher has ventured into the world of music and is co-founder of the rising jazz-house duo Bolden which is touring six European capitals and seven dates in the US later this year.
The tour follows sell-out shows at Omeara in London and Young Thugs in York, and will include Berlin, Stockholm, Helsinki, Amsterdam, Paris, Brooklyn, Toronto, Montreal, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
It is a far cry from the classroom and house viewings – Reuben taught Maths at Huntington Secondary School for a year from September 2021, having previous founded and run Coalters estate agency in York for 15 years.
He is co-founder of Bolden with Catherine Rannus, a classically trained multi-instrumentalist, with whom he connected via Instagram in August 2024. A one-off collaboration quickly evolved into a fully-fledged partnership.
