Former YO1 Radio presenter Gary Wilkinson has died at the age of 50 after a short illness.
YO1 Radio is very sad to report that presenter Gary Wilkinson has passed away. Gary presented YO1’s evening show for four months last year and covered our drive time show on several occasions. The thoughts of everyone at YO1 are with his family at this time.
Gary, began his radio career in the the 1990s at Wear FM in Sunderland. He spent more than thirty years working in the UK radio industry. He was also known as Mojo/Nick Jordan and could be heard on the North East radio stations TFM, Real Radio, Sun FM, and Galaxy.
Gary’s cousin shared the sad new on Facebook on Sunday morning 30 October 2022, saying: “Sadly late Friday night 28/10/2022 my fabulous cousin Gary Wilkinson passed away after a short illness.
“He was with family and will live on in our hearts and memories forever. Gary was my favourite cousin and a friend.
“It has come as a shock to us all. Please respect his family at this time xxxx.”
In recent years Gary was freelancing at the BBC but he also worked at a local community and commercial stations.
