Ryedale District Council continues to help fight fuel poverty this winter and beyond
This year, the Council will help highlight the vulnerable groups and people with disabilities who will be affected by fuel poverty, especially in light of rising fuel costs, via its social media platforms.
Some citizens in the district will face difficult winter choices however the Council offers a range of support, running alongside its partners, which includes:
- The Ryedale Energy Saver Scheme – helping local homeowners and private tenants access grants, loans and support for heating upgrades and home insulation solutions for their properties.
- The North Yorkshire Warm Homes Scheme – working alongside North Yorkshire County Council, this scheme supports residents to install gas central heating, radiators and air source heat pumps.
- Warm and Well advice service – Ryedale citizens can receive guidance on reducing energy bills in a service which brings together public, private and charity sector organisations to combat cold homes and cold-related deaths in North Yorkshire.
Phillip Spurr, Director of Place and Resources for Ryedale District Council, said: “We recognise that this winter in particular will be a challenging one for citizens heating their homes, but help is out there via our various schemes and grants which can help tackle fuel poverty and promote energy efficiency.
“We actively encourage everyone affected by fuel poverty to see what’s available to them, as it could make a big difference in living in high quality, safe and sustainable homes.”
