As previously reported in The Press, City of York Council says they will be doing resurfacing works in the A1079 Hull Road between Tang Hall Lane and the Grimston Bar roundabout.
Works will start today (September 15) and is expected to last until Tuesday, (October 21) weather permitting. The council says that no weekend working will be required and the road will be open at weekends.
A council spokesperson said: "While we are working to minimise disruption, delays are expected, so please plan ahead when making any journeys in the area during the works. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
"Residents and nearby businesses have already been alerted to the closures. Nearby businesses will remain open for business and access to them will be maintained."
The works will be carried out by Lane Rentals Services on behalf of the council, working daytimes with lane closures between 9.30am and 3pm and at night between the hours of 8pm and 5am with a road closure.
To allow the works to be undertaken safely it will be necessary for the teams to operate under a road closure during the night shifts. The road will be reopened at the end of the working shift when it is safe to do so.
Phase 1 of the works will be from the Grimston Bar roundabout to Tranby Avenue and Field Lane roundabout. This will involve night-time closures every weekday from September 15 to September 29. The road will close at 8pm each night and reopen at 5am the following morning, with lane closures in place as the day work takes place.
