A MEDIEVAL townhouse tucked away in a York snickleway has been named one of the most welcoming historic venues in the area.
Barley Hall, a medieval townhouse that has been restored to its former glory after being rediscovered in the 1980's, has received the 'Welcome' award in the Visit England Visitor Attraction Accolade at a ceremony earlier this week.
It was announced on Wednesday (November 12, 2025), during a ceremony at the British Motor Museum in Warwickshire that the hall, which is owned and operated by York Archaeology, was one of only two venues in Yorkshire to receive the award and the only historic property to do so.
