The Clifford Street nightclub Kuda announced its closure in a post on Instagram, which read: "Sad news.
We are closing. Thank you to everyone that's danced with us over the years, your support means the world."
Owned by NEOS Hospitality, they told The Press that the club's closure is in order for a refurbishment to be completed.
Russell Quelch, CEO at NEOS Hospitality, said: "Kuda has been an iconic part of York’s nightlife, and we’re excited to soon be giving it a fresh new chapter.
"With the venue set to undergo a six-figure investment, we’ll be refreshing and uplifting the space, creating a next-generation clubbing experience for the city.
