North Yorkshire Police say officers from York city neighbourhood policing team gave first aid to a teenager with serious leg injuries yesterday afternoon (September 19).
They were spotted at The Retreat, the abandoned hospital complex in Heslington Road.
A police spokesman said: “A group had been vandalising an abandoned building when the youth kicked through a glass door causing deep cuts and serious bleeding.
“He was rushed to hospital by ambulance.”
In August The Press reported that the former mental health facility, which built in the 18th century, is to be restored and converted into housing.
