Strensall ward councillor Tony Fisher woke up on Saturday morning (August 24) to find a sack of garden waste dumped on his driveway, the York Liberal Democrats said.
A party spokesperson alleged that the mess was created by an “unknown resident, who is presumably unhappy at the Labour council’s green bin tax”, claiming: “It seems that residents are directing their anger at all councillors rather than just those Labour councillors who forced through the new tax.”
But Cllr Jenny Kent, City of York Council’s executive member for environment and climate emergency, said it is “unhelpful to speculate” on how the waste appeared on Cllr Fisher’s driveway “without any evidence”.
