Jemma Graham has created Paws ‘N’ Promises, which she believes is the only one of its kind in the York area.
The 32-year-old, who has a chocolate labrador, currently works in administration for a York college.
However, last year she took voluntary severance from the University of York, which allowed her financially to “take the leap” and launch the business she had been thinking about.
Jemma says she has been to weddings of dog owners but dog’s were not part of the event as they did not want anyone responsible for their pets.
But Jemma saw a need for pets to be part of that special day.
She told the Press: “If I got married, I'd want my dog there but I wouldn't want to worry about her/the logistics so I would definitely use a dog chaperone!”
The service involves Jemma on the wedding day collecting the dog from its home or kennels and ensuring it is happy and exercised.
