The two victims were “simply walking on the pavement minding their own business” in York when Lewis Young, 21, struck and knocked down both of them, said John Batchelor, prosecuting.
As the second to fall lay prone on the ground, Young kicked him in the head and ran off down Museum Street while members of the public who witnessed the double attack went to the two men’s aid.
The second man, who believes he blacked out, “doesn’t know what happened or why,” said Mr Batchelor, reading the victim’s personal statement.
