A TEAM of about 18 people helped rescue a woman who broke her leg after she fell while out walking her dog in North Yorkshire.

It took about 18 people - including police, firefighters, ambulance crews and mountain rescue volunteers - to rescue Zoe Allen after she injured herself while out walking her dog in Norton near Malton on Tuesday night (May 27).

Her dad, Steve Allen, said Zoe was out with her partner walking her dog at about 8.30pm when she tripped on a tree root and the resulting fall broke both bones in her right leg.

"She heard the bones crack and she crumpled in agony," said Steve.

"She was in a field at the top of a steep hill of Bazeley's Lane with very difficult access.

"It took 18 people from the ambulance, fire and police, plus a team from Mountain Rescue to treat her at the scene and to get her off the hill down to the waiting ambulance.

"She is now in York Hospital awaiting surgery to put pins in her leg.

"She's ok now but obviously it was a bit of an ordeal last night. She's in hospital and she's comfortable, but she'll be off work for about two months."
