St George’s RC School in Fishergate say that following 'very constructive and positive discussions' with the newly appointed board of trustees at the Middlesbrough academy chain to which the school now belongs
- Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust (NPCAT), they have called off strikes today (Thursday, July 3) and tomorrow.
Members of the National Education Union (NEU) at St George’s said they have expressed their satisfaction with the recent talks, which addressed their longstanding concerns regarding the transparency of the school’s budget and staff workload.
A spokesperson for the NEU said: “The strike action was always rooted in a need for greater transparency around the school’s financial position.
"We are pleased that our concerns are now being addressed in a professional, open, and constructive manner by the new board.
"These recent discussions have laid the foundation for a more collaborative and trusting relationship moving forward.
"St George’s School remains committed to ensuring a positive and supportive environment for both staff and students.
"We welcome this renewed spirit of dialogue and cooperation and look forward to continuing to work together for the benefit of the entire school community."
