Emma Gascgoine and Lois Cook co-founded The York Skin Clinic in Acomb Road in Holgate after Emma herself discovered she had skin cancer.
May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month and clinic manager, Emma, said she has chosen to share her own story in a bid to help prevent it from happening to others.
"I was diagnosed in 2019 after going to a facial event for some products, the lady noticed I had something on my forehead," said Emma.
"I had a biopsy and found out it was a basal cell carcinoma.
"I ended up on an NHS waiting list for a year and in that time it had gone from being the size of a pea to the size of a golf ball. I was told at this point by the NHS that it could be another year waiting and I decided to see a private consultant and get it removed."
Today, Emma is well and you would never know she had surgery.
