Indian restaurant Jorvik Spice, at 74 The Mount, offers a wide range of South Asian dishes and has been called ‘top notch’ and a ‘flavour sensation’ by diners.
It currently has a 4.3 rating on Tripadvisor from 430 reviews, with visitors saying the staff were warm, friendly and attentive, and a 4.4 from 247 Google reviews.
However, following a visit by City of York Council officials on June 5, the restaurant was handed a score of zero for its food hygiene rating, meaning ‘urgent improvement necessary'.
In the category of hygienic food handling, the restaurant was graded as ‘improvement necessary’.
However, for management of food safety and cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, it was ranked as 'major improvement necessary'.
While the rating was shared publicly, City of York Council said it was unable to disclose any specifics at this time.
