Major hospitality operator Stonegate seek to make the changes to Popworld on George Hudson Street in the centre of York. It follows a £300,000 re-fit in 2021.
Plans submitted to City of York Council said: “The main venue faces George Hudson street to the east and is quite successful, the ground floor also has a small room to the south west corner which would be beneficial to utilise this space.
“We propose to create a link opening within the dividing wall and expand the main room into this area. The slight difference in floor levels would be made up with new timber steps.
“To allow for better customer flow around the premises a new small bar service counter will also be constructed in this additional space which would give the venue better facilities and offering.”
On the first floor, where the existing toilets are, a stud wall would be opened to create extra WC cubicles and washbasins to extend the ladies’.
