The Hat Shop York in Pavement held a Christmas jumper day to help raise funds for St Leonard's Hospice in Tadcaster Road.
John said: "St Leonard's is a great cause - they are a local charity who do great work in the community. One of our employees, Carol Brown, used to work there and recommended them."
The couple have been running the shop for 11 years and it's been a fixture of Pavement for two decades.
So far they have raised £600 with more to come from cash donations which customers can still make in shop.
