TransPennine Express said the incident is between Northallerton and Thirsk stations. There is disruption on the East Coast Mainline.
National Rail said lines between York, Darlington and Middlesbrough have re-opened but trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.
Disruption is expected until noon today (June 30).
Earlier, North Yorkshire Police said they and other emergency services had been dealing with the incident and National Rail said that operation had concluded.
