North Yorkshire Police say they received a report that a man was holding a knife in a car park at Aldi in Fulford Road at about 2.20pm on Sunday (July 13).
A police spokesman said: "Our officers attended immediately, and arrested a man at the scene.
"He was taken into custody, and has since been charged with possessing a knife in a public place."
