North Yorkshire Police say that with assistance from the UK Border Force a 24-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday morning (March 12) in Clifton in the city.
A force spokesman said: "He was arrested for importation of drugs offences, after numerous packages were stopped at the border containing controlled drugs.
"A search of his flat located a large amount of cannabis, a significant amount of cash and dangerous bladed weapons.
"The man will spend the day with us in custody answering some questions, whilst we conduct further enquiries."
