The A59 at Kirk Hammerton between York and Harrogate is closed due to accident investigation work from Pool Lane for Skip Bridge and Kirk Hammerton to Church Lane, the Hessay turn off.
It follows a serious accident late last night (March 3).
Drivers are being asked to avoid the area if at all possible.
