On Tuesday (June 24) a group called YorSchools organised a film screening event at The Crescent in support of the strikes at All Saints and St George's RC Schools.
As The Press reported last week, NEU members went out on strike at All Saints RC School's and St George's RC in Fishergate on Tuesday and Wednesday (June 24 and 25).
Aoibheann Kilfeather from YorSchools said: "We're a grassroots community organisation fighting for a fair, inclusive and fully funded education system, and a community film screening of When We Fight.
"The Los Angeles based documentary, demonstrated the power of collective action in education campaigning.
"A panel of speakers and audience members brought their experience and expertise to a lively discussion about the cultural, educational and financial damage wrought by Multi Academy Trusts (MATs) and how parents, teachers, students, unions and the community can bring attention to the damage they are doing. And how we can start to bring about change.
