A BARN fire in a North Yorkshire village which saw a partial roof collapse is set to be investigated.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Malton and Pocklington went to a double barn fire measuring 90 square metres in Acklam at 7.45pm last night (July 28).

A service spokesperson said: "The fire spread to 50 per cent of the building and also affected the roof which had begun to fall in certain sections.

"Crews worked alongside the farmer to remove the machinery and extinguish the fire using many hose reel jets and breathing apparatus equipment.

"The incident has been left open for a fire investigation to take place during daylight hours."
