York Man Jailed for 25 Years for Child Sexual Offences

North Yorkshire Police, News

A 39-year-old man from York, Carl Hrecko, has today been sentenced to 25 years in prison at York Crown Court for multiple sexual offences against children.

Hrecko was found guilty on 14 separate charges following a trial earlier this year, relating to assaults on children under the age of ten. One of the offences, described as a vicious sexual assault, took place in June 2023 and led to a wider police investigation uncovering further allegations.

Hrecko will now appear on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Detective Constable Marcus Furneaux-Harris praised the victims and their families for their resilience, stating:

“The bravery demonstrated by the children involved was inspirational and well beyond their years.”

Hrecko had denied the charges and accused the victims of lying, but the jury rejected his claims.
