This was the scene on a York street earlier today, as multiple police units responded immediately to a burglary in progress.
In the early hours of this morning, at about 1.30am, North Yorkshire Police received a 999 call from a member of the public who had heard breaking glass in a nearby property on Tuke Avenue.
The officers attended straight away, and located two men inside a ground-floor flat. A window had been smashed.
The two suspects, both men in their 20s, left the flat and were arrested on suspicion of burglary. A scene guard was put in place to allow a forensic examination of the premises – the investigation is ongoing.
The member of the public did exactly the right thing by contacting the police straight away, ensuring they could take immediate action.
