Fatal Collision on A19 at Chapel Haddlesey – Witnesses Sought

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal single-vehicle collision on the A19 at Chapel Haddlesey, near Selby.

The incident happened at around 3.30pm on Tuesday 29 July 2025 and involved a silver Jaguar with a sole occupant.

Tragically, the 81-year-old male driver was taken to hospital by ambulance but sadly passed away shortly after arrival. His next of kin are being supported by specially trained officers.

The A19 was closed for several hours to allow emergency services to work safely at the scene, with the road reopening just before 10pm.

Police have thanked members of the public who stopped to help at the scene and those who have already come forward with information.
