North Yorkshire Police, Appeals

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and video footage following a violent assault on Bridge Street in York during the early hours of Friday 6 June.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:50am on the bridge over the River Ouse. Two men were walking across the bridge when they were approached by an unknown man, who was walking with a woman. Without warning, the man punched one of the victims, causing a suspected fractured jaw that required hospital treatment.

The suspect is described as a white male, believed to be in his mid-30s, with short dark hairfacial hair, and wearing a black tracksuit.

Officers are particularly keen to trace any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area that may have captured the assault. This could prove vital in identifying the suspect and understanding exactly what happened.
