A York band has said signing to a rock drummer’s record label is a “dream come true”.
Four-piece art rock group Robo, aged between 19 and 23, have landed a record deal with 25 Hour Convenience Store, the independent label run by Libertines drummer Gary Powell.
Gary has been the drummer of the indie rock band since 1997. He has also played alongside legendary bands such as the Specials and the New York Dolls.
Robo was founded in York in 2023 by Francisco Garcia, Eric Wolf Bell and James Paton. Holly Brewer joined the line-up in March.
In a statement, the band said: “We’re thrilled, overwhelmed and immensely proud to announce we’ve signed a record deal with 25 Hour Convenience Store, a label owned by Gary Powell from one of our favourite bands, The Libertines.
“This is an absolute dream come true for us […] and we can’t wait to share with you all the things we’ve been working on.”
