York BID to launch bold new Business Plan following a decade of delivery

The York BID

York BID will mark a decade of delivery next week with the launch of a bold new business plan at its Annual General Meeting, taking place on Wednesday 16 July 2025 at Malmaison, York.

The event will bring together city centre businesses, stakeholders, and partners for an evening of celebration, and insight - celebrating ten years of investment in York’s economy and looking ahead to the BID’s next chapter.

At the core of the evening will be the official unveiling of York BID’s new five-year business plan, developed following a consultation with levy-paying businesses. The findings of the consultation revealed strong support for the BID’s work to date, with over 90% of respondents agreeing that the BID adds value both to the city and to their individual businesses.

Businesses also shared their views on the most pressing challenges facing York. When asked about priorities for the future, the most common response was a call for additional support to help businesses thrive - a message that has been placed at the core of the new business plan.

Andrew Lowson, Executive Director of York BID, said: “After a decade of delivery, it’s vital that we listen carefully to the businesses in York we’re here to support. The insights we received have been instrumental in shaping a forward-looking business plan that’s both ambitious and grounded in real need. This next phase is about building on our success while tackling the challenges that matter most to the business community in York.”

The AGM will also feature a presentation by Stephen Toal, Head of Property Management Insights at Savills. A nationally recognised expert in retail and leisure performance, Stephen will share analysis of current market trends, consumer behaviour, and how York fits within the broader UK city centre landscape.

The new York BID Business Plan outlines a renewed focus on practical support for businesses, enhancing the public realm, increasing footfall, championing York as a destination, and continuing strong advocacy on behalf of levy payers.
